Produced by Beside the Wave Gallery, this book explores a cross section of Amanda's work over the fifteen years she has been painting.
Published to coincide with the solo show "Landscape Stories" this book boasts a selection of work from my sketchbooks and oil paintings that featured in the show. The exhibition showcases my work from around Cornwall in all its lovely guises. Quiet evening sunsets, silent river stillness, beautiful light across the bay, images framed with the glories of Cornish hedgerows, overflowing with wild flowers.
I took my paints and sketchbooks and explored my favourite places. Living in Fowey many of these are also places that DuMaurier used as inspiration for her writing. Both artist and writer capturing the mystery and magic of this ancient landscape.
A full colour 106 page hardback book
of the 2014 sketchbooks of my work.
The book includes reproductions of my latest collection of
paintings that arose from my sketchbook work.
My fascination with the beginnings and endings of a day is beautifully expressed in this delightful and stimulating collection of new work and the studies which support them and which together bears witness to an ever-deepening creative expression: compelling renderings of my connection with place is that it is at once palpable and exhilarating.
My sketchbooks are a pure way, an extension of my thoughts and feelings about where I am working. In them I record, perhaps a particular colour, or the way that the light plays on a rock, or the juxtaposition of the sky and the beach.
Both these books are available to buy from Beside the Wave Gallery, Falmouth.
