From the magical intimacy of enclosure, to the wide open vistas of a grand landscape design, my exhibition of new work. Working with Nature, has it all. Created in, and inspired by, gardens in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, this collection is a celebration of the beauty and originality that humankind expresses in the gardens that it makes.
My work introduces a third layer of creativity in the composition and execution of these works which capture not only the spirit, but also the form, space and depth of some of the most exquisite garden spaces: from tiny private gardens and allotments to public parks and mini-landscapes; from formal to informal and from great to small.
The perspective places viewers on the threshold of the landscape and you are invited to observe ancient granite walls in an orchard, dusted with apple blossom and scattered with spring flowers, and then catch your breath amongst structural landscape gardens that open out to the horizon where the sea gleams. This blurring of the thresholds between the cultivated and the wild, natural, untamed landscapes eloquently suggests a landscape without boundaries, and in balancing the dynamic between enclosure and vista and the ephemeral qualities of light and reflection, my work delivers a breathtaking perspective on the gardens that surround us.
