My final show focused on Cornwall's south coast - from Falmouth Bay to Saltash, and includes coastline that is very well known to me, as well as large expanses of cliffs and shoreline which are completely new.
As a walk alone, this feels like an achievement; however, as the foundation for a major collection of landscape paintings, it has been a major undertaking, and as a project it has dominated my work for the past four years.
It feels significant that the completion of this project coincides with my first ten years as a professional artist.
Colours, Coast and Sea
These new collections were not intended as a day to day diary
account or to catalogue each mile of my journey, but concentrate
on specific views that were of particular interest to me.
These locations can sometimes be just cliff top views of
distant sea and sky or distinctive geographical locations
of beaches and estuaries.
Artist / Explorer
By embarking on this new artistic endeavour I found myself located beside many emirtent and respected artists who had
also taken on the dual role of artist/explorer. I felt I was charting
new ground here, in this new work and I feel I have navigated new
ideas... it was a bold adventure!
